How to clean grout
The best way to keep grout clean
It’s a fact of life that the grout between your tiles can become grubby and grimy over time without regular cleaning, causing your grout to discolour, eventually running the appearance of your tiles if you are not careful.
The two areas where you are most prone to this happening are the bathroom and kitchen. Thankfully, knowing how to clean your grout can help banish mould and mildew and get your grout lines looking as good as new.
So, if you want to learn how to turn your grout from grubby to gleaming in a few easy steps make sure to read on.
What causes grout to discolour?
Grout often gets dirty in rooms that get warm and humid like bathrooms and kitchens. Whether you’re running hot water in the shower or boiling food on the stove, over time dirt, grease and moisture can get into your grout, causing mould to form, leaving your once glistening grout joints discoloured.
How to clean your grout?
One of the most effective ways of removing tough to clean dirt, food and grease stains from grout joints in both the bathroom and kitchen is with a product such as Fila Grout Cleaner.

Fila Grout Cleaner 750ml
Extremely easy to use, simply spray this water-based cleaning product directly onto your floor or wall grout joints and leave for a few minutes to react. Next clean the area with a suitable pad or brush to ensure you give it a deep clean.
Once that’s done simply remove the residue using a clean cloth and water and leave to dry and wait for your grout to look as good as new.
Top Tip
It is important to keep your bathroom or kitchen well-ventilated to stop moisture getting into your grout. If you are using either room, make sure to switch on the extractor fan, and even leave the door and windows open to let the moisture escape.
How to seal your grout joints
They say that prevention is better than the cure. And that rule also applies to grout. One way of avoiding future staining is to seal your grout joints after installation using a product such as Fila Grout Sealer.

Fila Grout Sealer 750ml
Just like the Fila Grout Cleaner, it’s simply a case of spraying into your grout joints to protect them from water as well as humidity while at the same time making cleaning grout joints easier. Fast drying, Fila Grout Sealer is also both VOC and PFOA free.
