Why choose quarry tiles?
Quarry tiles are renowned for their strength and durability, making them ideal to use on floors in high-traffic areas of your home. They are also stain-resistant and easy-to-clean, making them the perfect choice for those seeking a low-maintenance tile that looks great. These tiles also add a rustic, traditional charm to any space, making them a versatile and practical flooring option.
What is a quarry tile?
Typically a quarry tile is made from a mixture of clay and shale that is fired at extremely high temperatures. The result is a tile that is extremely durable and resistant to wear and tear, making it suitable for use in high-traffic areas such as kitchens, hallways, and patios.
What is the difference between terracotta and quarry tiles?
The main difference between terracotta and quarry tiles is what they are made out of. Terracotta tiles are made from refined clay and fired at lower temperatures to provide a tile that is porous and requires sealing. Quarry tiles however, are made from a mixture of clay and shale that is fired at higher temperatures to create a tile that is more durable and suitable for high-traffic areas due to its strength and resistance to stains and moisture.
Are quarry tiles easy to clean?
Our range of glazed quarry tiles is not only hard-wearing but also stain-proof and easy to clean. However, because they are glazed, extra caution is needed to avoid scratching the surface and damaging the glaze.
What colours do quarry tiles come in?
Quarry tiles come in a range of colours, such as red, black, and even green. However, we stock a selection of red quarry tiles, which are perfect for injecting a traditional country feel into any home. Our glazed quarry tiles are slip-proof, and stain-proof, and require no maintenance after fitting. They are also heat-resistant, making them ideal for fireplace surrounds and underfloor heating.
