Tips for getting your patio ready for spring
Its almost that time of year again when we start venturing outside again with the family to make the most of the great outdoors.
But before you all start rushing for the backdoor and heading out into the garden to explore, its well worth taking a bit of time first to get your patio ready for the months ahead.

De-clutter your patio
The first step to getting your patio looking great again is removing all the clutter. So, before you do anything, move all plants and furniture to one side.
Next, sweep up any dirt or debris as well as any moss, algae and lichen that might have built up over the winter months on your slabs ready for them to be cleaned.
Use the right cleaning products
Sometimes there is no alternative to a bit of elbow grease, and this is definitely one of those occasions. Youll need a bucket, lots of water and a suitable patio cleaning product such as Fila Outdoor Patio and Porcelain Cleaner. Then its a case giving the whole patio a good old-fashioned scrub.
Once you feel youve done a satisfactory job scrubbing your tiles, rinse away the water with a pressure washer or a hose and leave to fully dry.
If you are planning on using a pressure washer, then these should be treated with care as they have the potential to damage the surface of your tiles. Wherever possible always use the fan setting on your pressure washer and test a small area first to make sure youve got your setting just right.
Make sure to avoid spraying the jet directly onto your tiles but rather spray diagonally at an angle across your patio to avoid washing the grout joints at the same time.
Once complete leave overnight and then revisit in the morning to see the results of your hard work. If youre not 100% happy, repeat the process until your outdoor tiles are looking as good as new.
Check your grout joints
Spring is also a good time to check the grout joints between your tiles, so its well worth inspecting them, and re-pointing where required. Tile Warehouse has a number of grout products which are perfect for just this job.
