What are the best tiles for a splashback?
Tiling a splashback in your bathroom or kitchen might seem like a daunting prospect at first but with a few tips and techniques it can quickly become a relatively easy DIY job, depending on the space that you are planning on tiling.
However, when it comes to choosing the best tiles to use for a splashback, there are no hard or fast rules when it comes to the types of tiles that can be used, with ceramic, porcelain, natural stone and even mosaic tiles more than suitable.
So, to help you select the right tile for you, we've picked a number of tiles from our splashback range that are not only perfect for splashbacks but are relatively simple to cut to fit around plug sockets etc as well as fit to your bathroom or kitchen wall.
Metro tiles
The Metro tile is possibly the most commonly used tile for splashbacks. Available in a wide choice of colours as well as sizes, its easy to cut to size. Plus, thanks to their rectangular shape, they can be fitted to your walls using lots of different patterns.
We've gone for the Metro Black tile. Its a real statement tile, especially when combined with a contrasting-coloured grout.
Underground tiles
Sometimes known as Subway tiles, Underground tiles are quickly becoming the new Metro tile thanks to their availability in different sizes, choice of colours and affordability.
We've singled out the Underground Pink as a top choice. Its a great alternative to traditional white without being either too bright or too garish. It also helps to bring colour into your home in an elegant and sophisticated way.
Rustic tiles
The Rustic range offers a twist on the Metro tile. Only 7.5cm x 30cm in size, the Rustic provide a more artisan finish to your splashback while the colour variations within the tile add additional interest.
We've selected the Rustic Aqua from the different colourways available. Its bright without being too bold, allowing it to complement existing interior décor schemes. And just like the Metro Black tile it really pops when used with a contrasting-coloured grout. Click here to see our full range of Mapei grouts.
Pattern tiles
If you're thinking of being a bit more creative with your kitchen splashback tiles, then pattern tiles are a great for achieving this particular look.
Plus, with pattern tiles you can go for either striking or subtle. We've gone for subtle with our selection and singled out the best-selling Patchwork Sentima tile. This square porcelain tile is great for injecting a little personality into a room. As an added bonus it can also be used on floors as well as with electric underfloor heating.
Mosaic tiles
Another tile that many people traditionally associate with splashbacks is mosaic tiles. Mosaics never really go out of fashion. They are classic and continue to defy the latest trends.
And we've definitely got things covered here at Tile Warehouse when it comes to mosaics whether that's something colourful, plain, patterned or textured. We've selected the Sylvan Marble Tumbled Mosaic Tile. Its classic and colourful at the same time and will really help to bring your walls to life.
